Wasn't sure what to expect from a B-grade knife, but the blade arrived razor sharp right out of the box. The tiny scuff near the bolster doesn't affect cutting at all, and it's held its edge through a week of daily veggie prep. Honestly, for the discount price, I'd take this over a full-price knife
